Dial Telecom has bought STAR 21 Networks

The Dial Telecom Group continues with its long-term business and acquisition strategy and continuously strengthens its position in the data, voice and the Internet services market in the Czech Republic. STAR 21 Networks a.s. has become a new daughter company of Dial Telecom a.s. 100% of the stocks have been transferred and, as a result, Dial Telecom a.s. has become the sole stock-holder of the company. This transaction will be confirmed and entered into the Business Register in a matter of days. The previous 100% owner of STAR 21 Networks was STAR 21 Networks GmbH, a German company from Frankfurt am Main.

Dial Telecom has strengthened wholesale

STAR 21 Networks was founded in 2000, when it obtained one out of three nationwide licences for the operation of the FWA (Fixed Wireless Access) networks in the band of 26 GHz for the Czech Republic. In 2001, the company began providing the services of its own network to other operators and soon became a significant alternative on the wholesale market of the so-called last mile – i.e. the connection of a specific customer to the network of a given operator using the fast wireless connection.

This network serves primarily to other operators and providers of Internet connections, who use it to provide telephone, data and Internet services to companies and organizations. Currently, all significant operators of fixed networks on the Czech market are already among the STAR 21 Networks customers.

With this transaction, Dial Telecom obtains the complete infrastructure of the provider STAR 21 Networks, as well as the whole existing customer base.

“It is a fast way of connecting customers, a supplement to the connection through the fixed network. STAR 21 Networks will become a daughter company of Dial Telecom,” said Aleš Zeman, the vice-chairman of the board of Dial Telecom a.s. “Thanks to this, we will become a far more significant player on the wholesale data connection market,” added Aleš Zeman.
