Dial Telecom has put into operation a new data room for mission critical technologies

Dial Telecom a.s., one of the leading Czech providers of telecommunication services, put new technological premises in the CE Colo data center in Prague (formerly known as SITEL) into operation. Dial Telecom thereby expanded the room used within the data center by more than 40 sq meters and 60 kW. The activation costs are in the order of millions of CZK.

This new top-equipped and secured designated room is connected to Dial Telecom’s own optical infrastructure, which is one of  the most significant in the Czech Republic. The newly activated data room will now serve primarily for mission critical technologies and the technologies of the Dial Telecom VIP clients.

60 kW pro initial 16 rack positions

A separate room has been put into operation at the CE Colo center. It has sufficient input power for placement of the backbone network, as well as other Dial Telecom technologies. The room has also been designed and arranged so that the initial input power of 60 kW can be increased if need be.

All the technologies used to equip the room are backed-up, so all SPoF (Single Points of Failure) are eliminated. The energy depends on two entirely independent branches for power: 230 V ST and -48 V SS.

”The extension of our technological premises within the CE Colo data center in Prague is another step in our expansion and will further enable us to increase the quality of our technologies and services. We will use the new data room for the long term for our own mission critical technologies as well as the technologies of our VIP customers,” said Jaroslav Šaroch, the manager of network and voice services administartion of Dial Telecom a.s.

The CE Colo center is one of the most significant centers

The CE Colo data center (formerly SITEL) is located in Prague 10 and, after being extended in autumn 2011, has 3,200 sq meters devoted solely to customers. It is used by approx. 150 companies, such as T-Mobile, Tesco, Interoute, GTS, MobilKom, Active24, Teleplan and, of course, Dial Telecom. The data center is also the crossroads for all national and international data and Internet networks. It offers the infrastructure of the eighth largest Internet exchange (NIX) in Europe, with 55% of all Internet traffic in the Czech Republic passing through it.

“We are glad that Dial Telecom decided to use the services of our data center in Prague. It confirms its substantial position within the Czech Republic and strengthens our position on the entire Central and Eastern Europe market,” said Jan Daan Luycks, the general director of CE Colo.
